Northumberland Beaches
Some of the best beaches are to be found along the Northumberland coast and clear waters of the North sea are perfect for swimming, diving and water sports.
BAMBURGH BEACH is overlooked by the magnificent Bamburgh Castle standing on a craggy outcrop this was voted one of Britains best views. It has a wonderful stretch of golden sand, great for horse riding - (see Slate Hall Riding Centre in Seahouses).
BEADNELL BAY a sandy haven with a small harbour and is popular with surfers.
EMBLETON BEACH is overlooked by the stunning ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle
A great walk from Craster to the castle ruins is only approx a mile and a bit so not too taxing.
SEAHOUSES BEACH where lots of rocky outcrops make it ideal for a spot of rock pooling, soft golden sand stretches to Monks House and beyond to Bamburgh .All with views to The Farne Islands (boat trips can be taken from the harbour in Seahouses).
BUDLE BAY is a bird watchers paradise with mud flats when the tide is out and great views to Lindisfarne (Holy Island).
LOW NEWTON BEACH Low Newton joins onto the north of Embleton bay.There s a nature reserve here.
SUGAR SANDS situated between Boulmer and Howick and can be reached from either of these locations. Visit the Earl Grey tearooms and gardens at Howick Hall.
ALNMOUTH BEACH this stretches from the mouth of the river Aln alongside the village and golf course to Marsden Rocks.
ROSS LINKS is a fabulous beach which is accessed by a footpath across the links. It is quite a walk, but worth it. The views are superb with Lindisfarne to one end and Bamburgh Castle to the other.
